Peter, a son of Peter and Bridget Gavin Joyce, was killed in the Twin Shaft Disaster, a mine accident which killed 58 men. Printed in the “Official List of the Men Entombed in the Twin Shaft Disaster” is:

“Peter Joyce, left a wife, lived on North Main street, brother of then Pat Joyce, a State Senator.”
