Rose Hinchcliffe (1885-1953)

Rose R. Hinchcliff, Retired Nurse, Dies

Miss Rose R. Hinchcliff, RN, of 479 South Main Street, Sebastopol, Jenkins Township, died Saturday at Veterans Hospital. The daughter of the late Isaac and Sarah Hinchcliff, she was born and raised in Sebastopol. She was a graduate of St. John’s High School, Pittston, and Scranton Hospital Nursing School.

A veteran of World War 1 Miss Hinchcliff spent two years in the Army Nurses Corps. Before retiring 20 months ago, she was employed 27 years by the Veterans Administration in various hospitals throughout the East.

She was a member of St. John’s Church, Pittston, Blessed Virgin Sodality, and John D. Stark, American Legion.

Surviving are these brothers and sisters: Bertha, Blanche and Gertrude, at home; Mrs. Mattie Burns, Brooklyn; Mrs. Alice Heffron, Wilkes-Barre; Edward, Lake Carey; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral will be held from the funeral home, 802 Susquehanna Avenue, West Pittston, Wednesday at 9 with requiem mass at 9:30 in St. John’s Church, Pittston; Interment in parish cemetery, Pittston.

Friends may call daily 2 to 5 and 7 to 10.
