She was wife of William J. Gavrish.
Ms. Gavrish was born in Pittston on Jan. 19, 1938, a daughter of the late Charles R. and Catherine Murtha Gilroy. She lived in the area for most of her life and in Naugatuck since 1983.
She retired from the American Cancer Society and from Coldwell Banker, where she sold residential real estate. She was a member of the Faith Sharing Group at Weid Drive and she enjoyed reading, interacting with people and using computers. She was a communicant of St. Vincent Ferrer Church.
She enjoyed her family and grandchildren. She was known as "Granny G." by all children who knew her. She was a very spiritual person, and she was a eucharistic minister who offered communion to those who could not attend Mass.
She leaves two sons, Joseph Gavrish and his wife, Stefanie, Stratford, Conn.; William Gavrish, Beacon Falls, Conn.; daughter, Marianne Boroski and her husband, Henry, Seymour, Conn.; brother, Thomas Gilroy, Hanover Township; sister, Ann Ellen Albert, Wyoming; seven grandchildren, Joe, Lisa, Heather, Timmy, Michael, Jeffrey and Tim; one great-granddaughter, Taylor.
Two brothers, Robert and Charles and two sisters, Maryann and Marita, are deceased.
Her funeral will be held Friday at 9:15 a.m. from Fitzgerald-Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 N. Main St., Naugatuck, Conn., with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Vincent Ferrer Church, Naugatuck,Conn.
Interment will be held in St. James Cemetery, Cross Street, Naugatuck, Conn., at the family's convenience. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home Thursday, 4 to 7 p.m.
