Comments: in late 1942 Dad was assigned to the Armed Guard Center in Brooklyn. The Navy had 3 Armed Guard Centers, which supplied gunnery crews for the merchant ships: Brooklyn for the Atlantic, New Orleans for the Gulf and Treasure Island for the Pacific. During 1943 and 1944 Dad was on a number of ships that were part of convoys that crossed the Atlantic to bring supplies and troops to the battle in Europe.
