He was born in Parsons, a son of John and Maria Nolan Gill, pioneer residents of Parsons. He was a member of St. Dominick’s Church and its Holy Name Society.
He served as a Parsons school director and also served as Wilkes-Barre school director following the annexation to Wilkes-Barre City. He was employed as a mine forman for the Lehigh Valley Coal company 52 years. He retired 19 years ago.
Surviving are the following children: Mary, at home, a teacher in the Wilkes-Barre City Schools; Mrs. Roger Haigney, Brooklyn, N.Y.; Mrs. Roy Denison, Bergenfield, N.J.; Mrs. Daniel Bocolo, Joseph, Wilkes-Barre; Richard, Allentown; Robert, Arlington, Va,; 10 grandchildren and a sister, Sister M. Ricarda, IHM, stationed at the Holy Name Convent, Swoyersville.
The funeral will be held from the funeral home, 159 George Avenue, Parsons. Friends may call Tuesday 2 to 5 and 7 to 10.
