Bertha Hinchcliff, Retired Teacher, Dies

Bertha Hinchcliff, 68, of 479 South Main Street, Sebastopol, retired faculty member of Jenkins Township School District, died yesterday afternoon at 2:15 in Pittston Hospital. Admitted to the hospital yesterday morning as a medical patient she had been ill several weeks at home.

Born and raised in Inkerman, she was a daughter of the late Isaac and Sarah Kane Hinchcliff and spent most of her life in Sebastopol. She was a graduate of St. John’s High School, Pittston, and East Stroudsburg Normal School. Miss Hinchcliff taught in the Jenkins Township School District 41 years and retired seven years ago. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church, Pittston, and Blessed Virgin Sodality.

Surviving are a sister, Blanche, employee of Internal Revenue Office at Scranton, at home; Mrs. Mattie Burns, Brooklyn, N. Y.; brother Edward, Lake Carey, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral will be held from the funeral home, 802 Susquehanna Avenue, West Pittston. Friends may call tonight 7 to 10 and thereafter 2 to 5 and 7 to 10.
