Pittston Resident Was Employed in County Assessors’ Off

Joseph P. Joyce, 2nd, of 558 North Main Street, Pittston, a clerk in the county assessors’ office at the courthouse, died yesterday afternoon at 2:30 in Mercy Hospital.

The young man was stricken ill of a heart ailment while visiting his sister, Mrs. Thomas Gill, of Parsons, and was removed to the hospital yesterday morning.

He was born in Pittston, the son of the late Senator and Mrs. Patrick F. Joyce, and had always lived in that city, where he was active in republican politics. His father represented the 21st Senatorial District at Harrisburg for several terms.

Mr. Joyce was a member of St. Mary’s Church, Upper Pittston; the Elks Lodge and Friendly Sons of St. Patrick.

He is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Thomas Gill and Frances Joyce, and an uncle, Joseph P. Joyce, with whom he resided.
