John Gilroy

John Gilroy, formerly of South Main Street, Pittston, brother of two nuns and a priest, died Sunday night in Scranton, following an illness.

Mr. Gilroy was born and reared in Pittston and was the son of the late John and Margaret Bonner Gilroy. While a resident of Pittston he was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church and a member of its Holy Name Society.

Surviving are these brothers and sisters: Rev. Leo Gilroy, pastor of St. Ann’s Church, Freeland; Sr. Madelena, Saint Mary’s Convent, Dunmore; Sr. Ethelbert, Marywood College, Scranton; William Gilroy, Pittston; Martin Gilroy, Newark, N. J.; Raymond and Joseph Gilroy, and Mrs. Alice Cosgrove, all of Washington, D. C.; Mrs. Thomas Gill, Wilkes-Barre, and Miss Elizabeth Gilroy, Freeland.

The funeral will be held Wednesday morning at 9:15 from the funeral home, 302 Susquehanna Avenue, West Pittston, with a requiem mass at 10:30 in St. Catherine’s Church, Moscow. Interment will be in the parish cemetery, Moscow.
