Born and raised in Pittston, he was the son of the late John J. and Margaret Ann Bonner Gilroy. He was a carpenter by trade and had worked for a number of contractors in the Pittston area until leaving a few years ago to reside with his sister. He was a member of St. Mary’s Help of Christians Church, Pittston.
Surviving are these brothers and sisters: rev. Leo V. Gilroy of Freeland; Sister Mary Madelena, IHM, stationed at St. Mary’s Convent, Scranton; Sister Mary Ethelbert, IHM, Marywood College, Scranton; William F., Pittston; Martin, Newark, N.J.; Mrs. Raymond Cosgrove and Raymond R., both of Washington, D.C.; Mrs. Thomas Gill, Parsons and Elizabeth Gilroy, Freeland.
Funeral will be held from the funeral home, 802 Susquehanna Avenue, West Pittston, with a requiem mass in St. Mary’s Help of the Christians Church. Interment will be in St. Catherine’s Cemetery, Moscow. Friends may call tonight 7 to 10 and thereafter 2 to 5 and 7 to 10.
