He was the uncle of Sister Mary Marita, Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Order, superior of St. Patrick’s Convent, this city. Solemn pontifical mass of requiem will be celebrated at 11 a.m. in St. Ann’s Church, Freeland, by Most Rev. Jerome D. Hannan, bishop of Scranton.
Other officers of the mass follow: Assistant, Msgr. Joseph J. Gavenda, Hazleton; deacon, Rev. Eugene A. Moran, Harleigh; subdeacon, Rev. Edward T. Gallagher, Friendsville; master of ceremonies, Rev. James C. Timlin, this city, and Rev. Paul J. Purcell, STL, Hoban Heights. Rev. Joseph P. McDonough, Montoursville, will preach the sermon.
Divine office will be chanted by priests of the diocese prior to the mass at 10:30 a.m. Rev. James P. McAndrew will be hebdomadarius.
Transferal services will be conducted today at 4 p.m. Msgr. Joseph J. Gavenda will preside.
