Thomas Gill (1918-2003)

Attorney Thomas F. Gill, 85, of North Main
Street, Wilkes-Barre, died Friday at home.

He was born in Parsons on Feb. 19, 1918, son of the late Thomas and Margaret Gilroy Gill.

He was a 1935 graduate of Coughlin High School and a 1939 graduate of the former St. Thomas College, now the University of Scranton. He also was a 1942 graduate of the University of Pennsylvania Law School.

Attorney Gill served with the Navy during World War II in the Atlantic Theater. He practiced law in the area for more than 45 years.

Attorney Gill was a member of the parish community of Sacred Heart of Jesus-St. John's, Wilkes-Barre; the American Bar Association; Luzerne County Law Library; Knights of Columbus, Council 302, Wilkes-Barre; Parsons American Legion, Post 199; and the former Parsons Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 6227, where he served as Adjutant for many years.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Francis T. and John J. M.D.

Surviving are his wife of 60 years, the former Mary Patricia Joyce; sons, Thomas F. Jr., at home; Michael J., Wilkes-Barre; Nicholas R., Lufkin, Texas; Peter J., Wilkes-Barre; John P., Richmond, Va.; daughters, Mary J., Old Bridge, N.J.; Anne E., Philadelphia; Alice M., Wilkes-Barre; Nora M., Wilkes-Barre; Elizabeth A., Kingston; five grandchildren; sister, Sister Marita, Scranton; brother, The Rev. Nicholas, C.P., Hartford, Conn.

The funeral will be held Monday at 9 from E. Blake Collins Funeral Home, 159 George Ave., Wilkes-Barre, with a Funeral Mass at 9:30 in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, North Main Street, Wilkes-Barre.

Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township.

Friends may call Sunday, 2 to 5 p.m.
