DEATH TAKES JOSEPH GILL

Plumbing Firm Associate; Rites Wednesday

Death claimed Joseph R. Gill, 53, of 34 Academy St., City, last night at 7 oclock at his home. He had been ill since October and was a patient in Mercy Hospital several weeks in December.

He was born in the Parsons section May 9, 1918, a son of the late Richard and Delia Walsh Gill, he was graduated from Wilkes-Barre Business College and attended Bucknell University. A veteran of World War 2, he served as a technical sergeant in the Army five years and connected with the 28th Division in the European Campaign. Mr. Gill was associated with Joseph A. Wright Company as a plumbing salesman more than 28 years. He was a member of St. Therese’s Church, served as president of the Ushers Club and was secretary and past president of the bowling league of the church.

Mr. Gill was also a member of the VFW Post 50 and American Legion Post 132, Wilkes-Barre.

Surviving are his wife, the former Reita M. Wright; daughter, Kathleen, student at Wilkes College; son, Timothy, junior at Bishop Hoban High School; sisters and brothers, Mary Gill, teacher at Franklin Street School; Mrs. Roger Haigney, Brooklyn, N.Y.; Mrs. Leroy Dennison, Bergenfield, N.J.; Richard, Allentown; Mrs. Daniel Bocolo, Mountaintop; Robert, Tobyhanna.

Funeral will be held from McLaughlin Funeral Home, 142 S. Washington St., Wednesday at 10 with Mass of Resurrection in St. Therese’s Church at 10:30. Burial will be in Chapel Lawn Cemetery, Dallas.

Friends may call tonight, 7 to 10 and Tuesday, 2 to 4 and 7 to 10 p.m. Rosary will be recited Tuesday at 8 p.m.
