Born in Wilkes-Barre, PA, she was the daughter of the late Carl A. Banks and Katherine Schall. She was a graduate of Wyoming Seminary in Kingston, PA and attended Wilkes College, Wilkes-Barre, PA. She was a long-time volunteer at the Lehigh Valley Hospital Junior Aides. Doris was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Allentown. She enjoyed tennis, reading and playing bridge.
Survivors: Husband; daughters, Ann Marie Merritt of Macungie and Deborah Handschue and husband Robert of Allentown; son, Richard C. Gill and his wife Marcy of Maryland; and grandchildren, James R. Merritt of Florida, Mark P. Merritt of Washington, Heather Handschue of Pennsylvania, Michelle Gill and Leslie Gill both of Maryland.
Services: Memorial service will be private, at the convenience of the family.
