Death of Upper Pittston Man

Daniel Gavin, a highly respected resident of Upper Pittston, died yesterday at the family home 582 North Main Street. His death was quite sudden as he had been ill for only a few days and his condition was not considered serious until Saturday. He had been employed in the Coxton round house of the Lehigh Valley for the past twenty years. He was ??? and was born in Upper Pittston where he spent his entire life. He was a member of St. Mary’s R.C. Church and was respected by all who knew him.(*)

He is survived by two sisters and one brother. Margaret and John at the family home and Mrs. Michael Lynott of North Main Street. The funeral will be held to-morrow morning. A mass of requiem will be sung in St. Mary’s R.C. Church at 8:30. Interment in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

(*) Census and other records indicate that Daniel was born in England and it is believed that his mother's maiden name was Joyce.
