He graduated from Coughlin High School, Wilkes-Barre. He was employed as a butcher by the McGinley Grocery Store, Wilkes-Barre. Before retiring, he was a brakeman with the Delaware and Hudson Rail Yards, Plains Township, for more than 30 years. He was a member of Holy Saviour Roman Catholic Church, Wilkes-Barre, and Holy Name Society for many years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Grace Mundy, in 1992; brothers John, Leo and Raymond Gill. Surviving are his sisters-in-law, Mrs. Ann Gill, Wilkes-Barre; Sister Patricia Ann Mundy, R.S.M., Dallas; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Thursday from the H. Merritt Hughes Funeral Home, Inc., 451 North Main St., Wilkes-Barre, with a funeral mass at 9:30 a.m. in Holy Saviour Church, Wilkes-Barre.
Interment will be in the St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hanover township. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Holy Saviour Church, 54 Hillard St., Wilkes-Barre, 18702.
