Amelia Rushton Barrett, Polly, 88, a longtime resident of the Parsons section of Wilkes-Barre passed away peacefully at her residence on Monday, July 12, 2021.
Born March 24, 1933 in Wilkes-Barre she was a daughter of the late James P. and Amelia Luongo Rushton.
Polly was a graduate of Marywood University. She was a teacher in the Wilkes-Barre Area School District for many years, retiring from Kistler Elementary School.
Polly treasured time shared with family and friends, and enjoyed playing card games and Bingo.
Her husband of fifty-eight years, Paul A. Barrett, died July 7, 2013.
Polly's children, Kevin and his wife Mary Barrett of Nanticoke, and Karen Rittel of Luzerne; grandsons, Shawn Gallagher, and Robert, Bradley, and Benjamin Baird; five great-grandchildren; brother, Michael J. Rushton of Wilkes-Barre; nieces, nephews, other family and friends will truly miss her.
Celebration of Polly's Life includes gathering on Monday at 8:30 a.m. at McLaughlin's, 142 South Washington St. in Wilkes-Barre followed by a Funeral Mass at 9:30 a.m. in the Church of Saint Mary of the Immaculate Conception.
