Doris J. Thompson, 72, of Maxwell Street, East End, Wilkes-Barre, died Wednesday at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. Born Oct. 19, 1920, in Wilkes-Barre, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Josephine Gill Rushton. She graduated from Wilkes-Barre schools.
She was employed by the Wilkes-Barre Area School District for a number of years.
She was a member of Holy Saviour Church, East End, and its Altar and Rosary Society and Blue Army.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elwood; daughter, Mrs. Doris Boyle; brothers, Harold, Leo, William and Richard.
Surviving are daughters, Mrs. Alex (Patricia) Petroski, Springfield; Mrs. Malcolm (Mae) Schuler, Mountaintop; son, Leo, Bear Creek; 15 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Mrs. Ruth Bordash, Edwardsville; brothers, James, Gilbert and Michael, all of Wilkes-Barre.
The funeral will be at 9 a.m. Saturday from the E. Blake Collins Funeral Home, 159 George Ave., Wilkes-Barre, with a funeral Mass at 9:30 a.m. in Holy Saviour Church.
Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Holy Saviour Memorial Fund, 54 Hillard St., Wilkes-Barre, 18702.
