Richard Holthaus

Richard Leo Holthaus, 76, Dallas, passed away Monday, Jan. 29, 2024, in Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Twp.

Born in Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of the late John Leo Holthaus and Mary Mildred Gannon Holthaus and was a graduate of Coughlin High School and Penn State University in architectural engineering, and had been a registered licensed architect since 1986.

Richard was vice president at Humford Equities and consulted as Richard L. Holthaus Architecture P.C. He began his career with Wassell and Pyros then Pyros and Sanderson Architects. He then moved on to architectural consulting with Sardoni Enterprise on major projects in New Jersey. Some of the projects he was associated with were Wilkes-Barre Center Renovation for Commonwealth Telephone, Port Liberty Water Front Community Harbour, New Jersey, Country Club Shopping Center, Dallas, and Park City Shopping Center, Lancaster.

Richard was an avid golfer and scored the first hole in one at Wilkes-Barre Mini golf club prior to its official opening. He loved to travel with his wife, family and friends. He was proudest of his family and supported them in all efforts and endeavors.

Richard was preceded in death by brothers, John "Jack" and Michael Holthaus.

.Surviving are his wife of 56 years, the former Ruth Marie Belak, at home; sons, Richard Holthaus and his wife, Anne, Shavertown; Ryan Holthaus and his wife, Susan; daughters, Rachael Bunney, Iowa; Rebecca Heussman, Coopersburg, Dallas; 10 grandchildren, Hollie and Zachary Holthaus; Michael, Matthew, Maxwell and Meghan Bunney; Timothy and Gavin Heussman; Jodi Faulkner and Kassandra Collado; four great-grandchildren, Logan and Aiden Faulkner; and Taniya and Julien Collado.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday from Richard H. Disque Funeral Home Inc., 2940 Memorial Highway, Dallas. Friends may call from noon to service time.Condolences may be made at Disquefuneralhome.com.
