Kathleen M. Cavan

Kathleen M. Cavan, 82, of Wilkes-Barre, died Monday at her home. Born June 20, 1919 in the Parsons section of Wilkes-Barre, she was a daughter of the late Michael and Mary (Gill) Gannon. She was a graduate of Coughlin High School. She worked for the U. S. War Department in Washington, D.C. during World War II and after returning to the area, she was a secretary for the Veterans Administration and later worked for Baldwin Electric. She was a member of St. Therese’s Church, Wilkes-Barre, Bloomer Girls Club and the Embroidery Guild, past president of Ladies Catholic Benevolent Association and past secretary of Mercy Hospital Cardiac Rehabilitation. She was a volunteer for many tears for the American Red Cross.

She was preceded in death by her sisters, Marcella Flood, Anne Pesavento and Mary Holthaus.

Surviving are her husband, Thomas J.; daughters, Cathy Jamiolkowski, Sellinsgrove; and Mollie Lowe, Wilkes-Barre; three granddaughters; and brother, Leo, Wilkes-Barre.

The funeral will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday from the E. Blake Collins Funeral Home, 159 George Ave., Wilkes-Barre, with a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Therese’s Church. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hanover Township. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Red Cross, 156 S. Franklin St., Wilkes-Barre, 18701.
