Naomi Gilroy

Naomi Gilroy, a resident of Wesley Village in Jenkins Township, formerly of Vine Street in Pittston, died Friday at Wesley Village.

Born in Pittston, she was a daughter of the late Peter and Marie Bridget Burke Roche. She was a 1936 graduate of St. John’s High School in Pittston and was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church on William Street in Pittston.

She was employed by Topps Chewing Gum Co. for 17 years before her retirement. She served for many years as a retired senior citizen for many charitable organizations.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William F. Gilroy, Jr.; brothers, Bill and John; and sister Jean. Surviving are her children, William F., III, Treichlers; Mary Ann Cerza, Yatesville; James P., Bonner Springs, Kan.; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brother, Ed Roche, Bangor; sister, Marion Roche Marvin, Susquehanna; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 10.30 a.m. Monday from the Donnelly-Callahan Funeral Home, 802 Susquehanna Ave., west Pittston, with a mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. John the Evangelist Church. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.

Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday. Memorial donations may be made to Wesley Village Retirement Home.
