Born in Pittston, he was a son of the late William F. and Sarah O’Malley Gilroy. He was a graduate of St. John’s High School, Pittston, and attended the University of Scranton. He was an army veteran of World War II. He retired form the Lehigh Valley Railroad, and was a member of St. Mark’s Church, Inkerman.
A brother, William, preceded him in death.
Surviving are daughters, Mrs. Mary Jane Hunsecker, Shippensburg; Mrs. Susan McNichol, Pompano Beach, Fla.; Mrs. Diane Williams, Lake Ariel; Mrs. Michele Healey, Port Blanchard; sons, Ned, Marlboro, Mass.; John, Southboro, Mass.; Brian, Endwell, N.Y.; 10 grandchildren; brother, Robert, Indiana.
