Patricia O’Hara Cosgrove

Patricia O’Hara Cosgrove, of Bethesda, Maryland, a descendant of a prominent Pittston family, died Thursday at Sibley Memorial Hospital, Washington, D.C.

Mrs. Cosgrove was the daughter of the late Joyce O’Hara, a Pittston native who was internationally known in the world of motion pictures in the decades before and after World War II. He was executive vice president of the Motion Pictures Industry Association, serving under film industry pioneer Eric Johnston.

Mrs. Cosgrove was the niece of the late Vincent O’Hara, executive director of the Greater Pittston Chamber of Commerce for many years.

She is survived by her husband, John P. Cosgrove, a Pittston native who gained prominence in Washington as a news publishing executive and President of the National Press Club. Cosgrove was the Greater Pittston Friendly Sons of St. Patrick Man of the Year in 1964, when Attorney Robert F. Kennedy spoke at the Golden Anniversary dinner.

Also surviving is a sister, Angela O’Hara, and nieces and nephews.

A viewing will be held today, Sunday, January 20, at the Joseph Gawler Funeral Home, Wisconsin Ave. N.W., Washington, D.C. from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Anne’s Church, Wisconsin Ave., N.W., Monday morning at 10 a.m. Burial will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Silver Spring, Maryland.
