Marie Cosgrove Bartlett

Bartlett, Marie Cosgrove - passed away peacefully Sunday, June 7, 2015, at an assisted living residence in Knoxville, TN. She was born in Pittston, PA July 1, 1921. As a young adult, she moved to Washington, D.C., worked for the United States Merchant Marine during WWII, and married Richard A. Bartlett December 26, 1945.They resided in Chicago, College Station, TX, and Boulder, CO as Richard completed his Master's and doctoral degrees. The family moved to Tallahassee in 1957 when he became a professor of History at Florida State University.

They resided there until moving to Knoxville in October of 2014. Marie was preceded in death by parents, Raymond and Alice Gilroy Cosgrove; brothers, Jim and Leo Cosgrove; and son, Richard A. Bartlett, Jr. She is survived by husband of 69 years, Richard A. Bartlett of Knoxville; brother, John P. Cosgrove of Washington, D.C.; daughters, Margaret Carr (Steve) of Knoxville and Mary Bartlett (Peter Schantz) of Atlanta; son, Tom Bartlett (Bonnie) of Tallahassee; grandchildren, Ben Morris of Tallahassee, Josh Morris Bartlett, Mandy Leznick of Jacksonville, FL, Matt Carr (Tara) and Brent Carr (Alexis) of Knoxville, Cody and Zach Smith of Atlanta, Megan Bartlett of Baltimore, MD; and four great-grandchildren.

Interment was at Greenwood Cemetery, Knoxville, TN, following a graveside service which was officiated by Fr. Rich Andre, CSP of St. John XXIII Catholic Center, Knoxville. Memorial may be made to CSU (Catholic Student Union), Co-Cathedral of St. Thomas More, 900 West Tennessee St., Tallahassee, FL 32304.
