Priest 61 Years Dies
Rev. Peter Nolan Rites to Be Friday

Rev. Peter A. Nolan. pastor emeritus of Holy Saviour Church, died Wednesday at St. Mary's Villa, Elmhurst.

He was a former resident of the Inkerman section of Jenkins Township. A graduate of St. John's High School, Pittston, He also attended St. Charles College, Ellicott, Md.: St. Mary's Seminary, Baltimore, Md., and Catholic University, Washington, D. C.

Rev. Father Nolan was ordained July 13, 1912, in St. Peter's Cathedral, Scranton, by Bishop Michael J. Hoban, DD.

He served as assistant pastor at St. Francis of Assisi Chapel, Eagles Mere; St. Paul's, Scranton; St. Leo's, Ashley; St. Joseph's, Wilkes-Barre Township; Epiphany, Sayre; St. Mary's, Mt. Pocono; St. Ann's, Freeland.

Rev. Father Nolan was pastor at St. Ann's Church, Bentley Creek; St. Luke's, Jersey Shore; SS Peter and Paul's, Towanda.

He served as pastor of Holy Saviour Church, Wilkes-Barre, for 23 years until Sept. 10. 1968 when he became pastor emeritus of the church.

Rev. Father Nolan was also on the board of the Catholic Light, newspaper of the Scranton Diocese since 1943.

Surviving are a brother Frank, Washington, D. C. ; sisters, Mrs. Raymond Nolan, Wilkes-Barre and Mrs. Thomas E. Morris , Chicago, Ill.

The funeral will be held Friday at 9:30 a.m. at Holy Saviour Church. A Concelebrated Funeral Mass will be offered at the church with Msgr. Joseph A. Madden, VF, as the principal celebrant.

Viewing will continue in Holy Saviour rectory until transferral services to the church Thursday at 7:30 p. m. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township.

Final Rites Friday For Rev. Peter Nolan

The funeral of Rev. Peter A. Nolan, pastor emeritus of Holy Saviour Church, Wilkes-Barre will be held from Holy Saviour Church Friday at 9:30 a. m. A Concelebrated Funeral Mass will be said with Msgr. Joseph A. Madden as principal celebrant.

Other participants will be: Msgr. James T. Clarke; Msgr. Joseph F. Meier; Msgr. William L. Donovan, Msgr. Constantine Siconolfi, concelebrants; Rev. Hugh McGroarty, assisting priest; Rev. Theodore Obaza, cross bearer; Rev. Louis Grippe and Rev. Paul Mullen, acolytes; Rev. William Petruska, thurifier; Rev. Arthur Kaschenbach, chanter; Rev. John A. Walsh, director of music; Msgr. Andrew J. McGowan, sermon.

The transferal of the body from the rectory to the church will be held Thursday at 7:30 p. m. with Msgr. Clarke presiding.
