Sister Claranne Nolan

Sister Claranne Nolan, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, died Saturday at the Marian Convent.

Born Anne Loretta Nolan in 1930 in Scranton, daughter of the late Clarence Joseph and Annabel Margaret McGuire Nolan, she entered the IHM Congregation Sept. 8, 1948, made her temporary profession of vows May 8, 1951, and her final profession of vows Aug. 2, 1954. She earned a bachelor of music degree in elementary education from Marywood College and a master of arts degree in music from New York University.

She served as a teacher at Nativity of Our Lord elementary school, Scranton, from 1971 to 1976, at St. Clare's elementary school, Scranton, 1976 to 1978, at Holy Rosary elementary school, Scranton, 1978 to 1990, at St. Patrick's elementary school, Scranton, 1990 to 1996, and at elementary schools in Baltimore, Md., Asbury Park, N.J., Spangler, Altoona, Lock Haven, Providence, R.I., Nyack, N.Y., and Brooklyn, N.Y. From 1996 until her illness, she served at Blessed Sacrament elementary school, Staten Island, N.Y.

Surviving are a brother, James, The Villages, Fla.; three nephews; and four grandnephews.

The funeral will be Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. with Mass at the Marian Convent. Interment, St. Catherine's Cemetery, Moscow.

Friends may call Monday after 2 p.m. at Marian Convent.
