Mrs. Gilroy was born and reared in Worcester, Mass., and was a daughter of the late Garrett and Mary Fitzgerald. She graduated from Worcester State Teachers College and taught school in Worcester several years prior to coming to Pittston. She had been a resident of Greater Pittston 23 years.
A communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church, Pittston, she was also a member of the Altar and Rosary Society.
Surviving are a son, Robert, at home; brothers and sisters; Mrs. George Buell, New York City; Evelyn B. Fitzgerald, Paxton, Mass.; Gerald Fitzgerald, Encino, Calif.; John Fitzgerald, Suffern, N.Y.; Mae Kirklighter, Jackonsville, Fla.; Mrs. Edward McDonald, Shrewsbury, Mass.
Funeral will be held Thursday morning at 10 from the funeral home, 802 Susquehanna Avenue, West Pittston, with a requiem mass at 10:30 in St. John’s Church. Interment in St. Catherine’s Cemetery, Moscow. Friends may call 2 to 5 and 7 to 10.
