Robert T. Gilroy Dies at Age 42

Robert T. Gilroy, 42, of 282 Coal St., Wilkes-Barre, died Tuesday morning in Geisinger Medical center, Danville.

Born in Pittston Township, he graduated from Pittston Township High School and served with the U.S. Air Force during the Korean conflict. For the last five years, he was employed as a construction worker by Linde Construction Co., Wilkes-Barre. Mr. Gilroy was commander of VFW Post 7021, Newtown, and was a member of St. Leo’s Church, Ashley.

Surviving are his widow, the former Catherine Gaughan; daughters, Cathy, Kelly, Jean Marie, at home; brothers, Joseph, Linden, N.J.; James, Islin; Martin, West Pittston; sisters, Mrs. Jean Shandra, Mrs. Mary Jean Lee, Pittston; Mrs. Rita Dominick, Middlesex, N.J.; Mrs. Sally Savan, Plains; Mrs. Margie Ribaudo, Old Forge.

Funeral will be Friday at 9 from McLaughlin Funeral Home, 142 S. Washington St., Wilkes-Barre, with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 in St. Leo’s Church. Interment in St. Charles Cemetery, Sugar Notch. Friends may call Wednesday and Thursday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. Rosary will be recited Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
